Abstract
Seborrheic dermatitis is an inflammatory skin condition characterized by erythema, scaling, and pruritus of the scalp and other areas rich in sebaceous glands. It affects about 1–5 % of the general adult population, regardless of ethnicity. Dandruff refers to scalp scaling without evidence of inflammation and is sometimes used synonymously with the term seborrheic dermatitis.
