Abstract

Nasolacrimal intubation with silicone tubing is an effective method of relieving chronic nasolacrimal duct obstruction in children (success rates reported to be about 90 %). The procedure of nasolacrimal intubation is less invasive than dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) and is technically easier to perform. In addition to its use in children, silicone intubation has been found to be efficacious in adults with epiphora as well.
