Abstract
Patient should be evaluated and deemed appropriate for such a surgical procedure. Patients with significant cataract and prior phakic lens implantation due to high myopia are candidates. In addition, a phakic intraocular lens may rarely need removal secondary to elevated intraocular pressure or hyphema in the eye. Patients with any of these indications in addition to a visually significant cataract are candidates. Patient should be educated about the risks and benefits of the procedure, including alternatives.
