Abstract

Nowadays, in literature, there isn’t an evidence of a gold standard treatment in thumb osteoarthritis. In the last decade, a variety of surgical techniques have been described to obtain pain relief, strength, mobility and stability restoration: arthrodesis, trapezial excision, trapezial excision and ligament reconstruction with tendon interposition or without tendon interposition, silicone arthroplasty, Dacron interposition, and total joint implant arthroplasty.
