Abstract

The selection of the device for the procedure of percutaneous occlusion of the left atrial appendage (LAA) is described; multiplanar transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) in 2D and 3D modalities is performed to define LAA size and anatomy. Each commercially available device needs dedicated measurements of the left atrial appendage, due to their different shapes. Finally, the measurement protocol used in our department is described.
