Abstract

The complex urban reality, in continuous evolution, are characterized by buildings, facilities, equipment, human capital, social capital and the ability to create sustainable economic development. Today, urban planning is called to respond to the new needs of the community, for this reason it is necessary to avoid the mistakes made in the past and think of a plan to be adapted to the change. All this is possible through the implementation of participatory strategic actions which ensure high levels of quality of life as well as responsible management of land resources. This outlines the concept of sustainable development and resilient cities, forcefully entered in today’s urban paradigm, becoming the key to activate the competitiveness of cities. In this work, particular attention is paid to sustainable mobility in Italy, in the knowledge that the innovations of the mobility and transport system is needed to ensure the livability of future cities.

    They can be subdivided into three categories: information/communication: is an informative approach; the administration informs, communicates to stakeholders the choices and solutions decided by the - consultation/listening: it is an approach that provides both the information phase is the phase of listening to stakeholders. The observations will then be considered by the administration for a possible redefinition of policies - collaboration/involvement: it is an approach that provides a path aimed to take joint decisions between government and stakeholders.

    The Aalborg Charter, consists essentially of three parts that define, respectively: 1. the so-called principle of the Declaration; 2. Campaign of Sustainable European Cities; 3. the local plans of action for a sustainable urban model contained in Agenda 21. With a verification process the Aalborg Charter is activated and all those activities are driving the urban ecosystem towards balance and those that move away it. In addition, it aims to preserve the natural capital, biodiversity, human health, air quality, the water, the soil in order to ensure, in the long life and well-being of humans and animals and plant. The principles of sustainable development are “rethought” in a more flexible set, a local creative process, in which the individuality of each city emerges, the latter called to develop their own strategies, to implement them and to inform each other and experiences.

    The environment has three main functions in the economy in general and man’s sustenance: 1. provides us the natural resources that it uses as an engine of all its activities; 2. receives and assimilates the waste resulting from human activities; 3. ensures the survival of mankind while providing living space and space for recreation.

    The difference between the two concepts is that sustainability is a goal to be achieved to ensure the welfare of future generations (Bruntland Report on Sustainable Development, UN 2987), resilience, on the contrary covering a way in which we face change, can be a It was more or less desirable.

    The initiative “Mayors Adapt, The Covenant of Mayors Initiative on Adaptation to Climate Change” was launched 19 March 2014 by the European Commission as part of the Strategy. “Mayors Adapt” aims to increase support to local actions, to provide a platform for greater commitment and networking the city by raising public awareness of the adaptation measures to climate changes that are necessary.

    Non-profit association that promotes the country new forms of mobility and transport, both individually and collectively, systems and more sustainable facilities for the benefit of the quality of life of citizens and greater respect of the environment as possible.
