Abstract

In this paper, we address the problem of power minimization under rate constraint for a multi-carrier-based underlay cognitive radio (CR) network. In fact, both primary users (PUs) and secondary users (SUs) employ either orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) or filter bank based multi-carrier (FBMC). The problem is formulated as a non-cooperative interference pricing-based game (NPBG) in order to circumvent the coupling primary interference constraint and also to propose distributed solutions. We provide a sufficient convergence condition to a Nash-equilibrium (NE) point for the modified water-filling algorithm. Moreover, we propose a distributed algorithm that always converges to a unique NE of the NPBG. Simulation analyses are then provided to demonstrate the efficiency of our proposed distributed algorithms. Furthermore, the simulations enhance the advantages of using FBMC as a modulation technique if compared to OFDM.
