Teaching Big Data Technology Practices in Cloud Environment

Abstract

Adoption of the balanced and optimal decisions in business is based on the real time analysis of large volumes of the unstructured or semi-structured information. According to analytical researches, the problem of shortage of the experts capable to deal with big data accrues. The purpose of this work is development of a cloud environment to give students opportunity to get practical access to the Big Data technology using lab works that has been developed earlier [1]. As technologies are new, there are just a few educational programs in the field of Big Data in Russia. The practical use of technology is the focus of the proposed approach. Students improve skills working with practice sets, which are called “lab works”. Moreover, access is provided to servers with data for term projects on educational and business problems.
