Abstract
Rapid response systems (RRSs) are one of the first patient-centred, organisation-wide, clinician-driven systems. They are designed to improve patient care on a collective and standardised basis. There is variability in the way organisations can successfully implement such systems. The culture of some organisations lends itself to a co-operative and successful implementation of a RRS, while others struggle. Similarly, the implementation of such a unique system will, in turn, influence the culture of the organisation, lending itself to being receptive to other systems designed around patients and their needs.
