Abstract
In this essay I try to explain in layman’s terms how quantum theory challenges our ability to give a plausible story of what is “really going on” at microscopic scales.
Much of this essay is based on my inaugural lecture “Quantum Theory: It’s Unreal”, which can be found on YouTube.
