Abstract
ACL injury is all too common yet significant event in the career and life of a competitive athlete. A successful outcome after ACL reconstruction is commonly measured by the athlete’s ability to return to play at the same or higher level of competition. The ability of an athlete to effectively and safely return to sport is multifactorial. A thorough understanding of recent data on return to play rates and associated risk factors allows the medical provider to appropriately and accurately manage the expectations of the injured athlete and maximize the ability of the athlete to return to competitive play.
