Neutron-Induced Reactions

Chapter

Abstract

Fermi had already realized in the early 1930s that neutrons were an ideal probe to induce nuclear reactions because of the lack of the Coulomb barrier. The use of high-flux reactors and neutron generators—primarily in the 1950s and 60s—to produce new isotopes is described in the chapter.
