Abstract

Renal and metabolic conditions are quite common in the ICU. This chapter covers all commonly encountered electrolyte abnormalities in these patients. The approach to the patient with life-threatening electrolyte disorders is reviewed, such as hyperkalemia, hypophosphatemia, and others. The metabolic derangements that require treatment and observation in the ICU are reviewed in this chapter.
