Abstract
It is not possible to pull the threads of such a diverse range of topics covered in the book together in a short sharp conclusion. The topics covered have been so varied and related to such a vast array of issues that some sort of overall synthesis would miss the importance of the detail, the particular and the specific in the shaping of the relations between issues of health and the social. But it may be useful to ponder on some broader interpretations of sociology of health as a way of considering the type of contribution that sociology and related disciplines make to our understanding of health, society and culture.
