Abstract

Granulomatous hepatitis has many forms and causes (Fig. 9.1). Varieties of granuloma in the liver include epithelioid granulomas (non-caseating or caseating), necrotic palisading granulomas (i.e., abscessed or suppurative granulomas), lipogranulomas, foamy macrophage aggregates, microgranulomas, and fibrin ring granulomas. A condensed differential diagnosis is available in Table 9.1.
