Abstract

Cervical ectopic pregnancy is a rare event with an incidence of 1 in 1000–18,000 pregnancies. It can cause massive hemorrhage requiring a hysterectomy. However, today most cervical pregnancies can be diagnosed early allowing fertility-sparing treatments. This chapter reviews the diagnosis and management of cervical ectopic pregnancy. We conclude that systemic multidose methotrexate results in high rates of success with no long-term effects on future fertility. More invasive treatments are indicated for cases that have failed methotrexate or have contraindications to its use.
