Abstract
Epistaxis is a common condition which can vary in severity. The side of the nosebleed, whether the bleed is anterior or posterior, and the amount of the bleed are important factors for consideration. Epistaxis can be an isolated entity or can be related to conditions including trauma, hypocoagulable states, and hypertension. Epistaxis can be managed by conservative measures including nasal packing, but in some cases requires surgical or angiographic means of control. Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia is a common genetic cause of nosebleeds that can be associated with great morbidity and mortality.
