Abstract
It was late spring, by Belarus standards, and Taman had been out for three days, in a white tent. The color seemed to deter Apoidae – hundreds of species of bees in the forest, and the Vespoidae, several hundred wasp, yellow-jacket and hornet species; and possibly ticks as well. White was additionally useful in winter – good camouflage so as not to disturb the wisent, or any other creatures. He had no stove, just the usual pack filled with granola bars, cold cans of tomato bisque, slices of pumpernickel, and chunky peanut butter.
