Abstract
This chapter reviews clinical pearls using the acronym AVOID to highlight some of the key principles of using psychotropic medications in the geriatric population. It also reviews the influence of aging on pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Finally, it explores common on-call conditions where medications are emphasized, while common on-call psychotropic medications are listed as an easy-to-reference table.
