Emergency Lapararoscopy for Colon Obstruction and Acute Diverticulitis

Emergency Laparoscopy

Abstract

The management of acute colon obstruction and acute diverticulitis has been challenged in recent years. The introduction of laparoscopy in the emergency setting for the treatment of patients presenting with acute colon obstruction and diverticulitis has led to a more minimally invasive multimodal management strategy for both clinical conditions. However, the current evidence regarding the real benefits of this approach is still controversial.

The aim of this chapter is to critically review the indications and the results of the laparoscopic approach for the treatment of acute colon obstruction and acute diverticulitis.
