Abstract
A 30-year-old woman with focal epilepsy of right frontal lobe origin was managed on oxcarbazepine and lamotrigine prior and during her pregnancy. She gave birth to a baby girl at full term with no perinatal complications. The baby weighed 4 lbs 2 Oz, and there were no congenital malformations noted at the time of birth. The patient is wondering about the safety of breastfeeding her baby and potential short-term and long-term risks to her baby associated with her breastfeeding.
