Abstract

Frequent episodes of migraine without aura pose several issues in regard to diagnosis, reassurance, the need for investigations, and planning a management strategy. In this chapter all these issues to consider effective treatment of acute attacks and the need for preventative treatment will be highlighted and discussed. The necessity to achieve a balance between prevention and reducing the need for acute medication is important in order to avoid a situation of medication overuse headache and chronification of headache.

In this chapter, assessment of the child with frequent episodes of migraine without aura will also focus on the importance of the age of the child, the impact of headache on daily routine, and education. Quality of life assessment plays an important part in the child’s management.
