Abstract
In 1954, Tellegen introduced the concept of a universal active network element under the name of “ideal amplifier” (Rend. Sem. Mat. Fis. Milano 25:134–144, 1954). In this chapter a classification is given of ideal amplifiers on the basis of which ports are grounded.
