Abstract
Every society categorises its members according to a set of attributes of many different types and results in the association of each member with the various groups that exist, according to the combination of those attributes. This process will lead to the placement of each individual in that society.
GAMIAN-Europe (Global Alliance of Mental Illness Advocacy Networks-Europe) is a patient-driven, pan-European organisation that represents the interests of people affected by mental illness and advocates their rights (www.gamian.eu).
