Part of the book series: Progress in Drug Research ((PDR,volume 71))

Abstract

Plants are the storehouse of many chemical compounds that possess various biological activities. Identification of these compounds becomes critical in understanding the exact mechanism behind the therapeutic potential of these plants. Screening and isolation of compounds from plants important to human health involves various methods that need careful handling and attention. A detailed method of isolation using thin layer chromatography (TLC) and column is explained.
