Abstract
A charged particle moving in a magnetic field is accelerated by the Lorentz force. An accelerated charged particle emits electromagnetic radiation in a large range of frequencies, dependent on the particle energy and on the magnetic field. This radiation is called synchrotron radiation. Electrons in a circular accelerator emit synchrotron radiation while they pass through the bending magnets.
