Common Urologic Procedures

Interventional Critical Care

Abstract

While this chapter is by no means an exhaustive review of every possible urologic procedure that can or may be performed in the ICU setting, it is certainly aspiring to be a concise, relevant, evidence-based review of some of the more common procedures that you may be asked to perform or even observe. To wit, some of the topics we will cover include proper sterile technique for the insertion of Foley catheters, difficult Foley catheters, bedside clot evacuation, and reduction of paraphimosis.
