Abstract

The Housestaff Patient Safety and Quality Council (HPSQC) was created in the summer of 2012 with a vision to create house staff-driven improvement of patient care and involve house staff in the existing quality improvement structure. This council noted a significant deficit in compliance rates for pneumococcal and influenza vaccinations, a core measure since 2012, and created an interdisciplinary project in order to meet the goals of the council and to improve vaccination compliance throughout the hospital. Multiple interventions were initiated based on the council’s recommendations and review of vaccination failures, resulting in improved compliance rates to the goal of >96 %.
