Abstract

This chapter provides a brief background to wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and the resilience problem in WSNs. Standard approaches to providing resilience in WSNs will be discussed, followed by an introduction to the technique of network coding that is the basis of the resilience approaches introduced in this brief.
