Narcolepsy and Developmental Disability

  • Chapter
Narcolepsy

Abstract

In New York State, the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) coordinates and provides services for people with developmental disabilities provided they meet eligibility requirements. For narcolepsy, deficits in adaptive functioning are the primary requirement rather than deficits in cognitive functioning. Here we provide a summary of the requirements and provide examples of persons with narcolepsy that have and have not met the requirements.
