Abstract
Bone marrow pathology is predominantly based on disorders of the primary hematologic components. These include neoplasms of the myeloid, erythroid, and megakaryocytic elements as well as lymphocytes and plasma cells. There are a broad range of congenital and reactive conditions of the bone marrow, and infections may also affect this highly vascular organ system. In addition, there are a range of acute and chronic neoplasms of the marrow which include acute myeloid and lymphoid leukemias, myeloproliferative neoplasms, and myelodysplastic syndromes, as well as a broad range of lymphomas and plasma cell neoplasms.
