Abstract
Hemangiopericytoma (HPC) is a relatively uncommon tumor of the anterior skull base and paranasal sinuses; very rarely, it arises in the sellar region.
In the sellar region, HPC typically presents with symptoms and signs of local mass effect, including headaches, visual loss, and/or hypopituitarism, often mimicking a pituitary adenoma.
More commonly, HPC may arise as a primary sinonasal tumor (5 % of HPC cases). Also known as glomangiopericytomas, these are a distinct entity but are related to HPCs. These tumors are likely to present with nasal obstruction or epistaxis.
HPC typically arises in the sixth or seventh decade of life.
