Viral chromatin-interacting proteins. The genomes of dsDNA viruses encode host cell chromatin-interacting proteins [1039]. Examples are the HPV oncoproteins E6 and E7 (targeting cellular p53 and Rb, respectively), the SET-domain methyltransferases of large nucleocytoplasmic DNA viruses (mimivirus, Marseillevirus, Lausannevirus) [1040–1042], and the BEN domains of poxviruses (printed in Figure 1 of cited article: “Multiple sequence alignment of the BEN domain”) [1043].
