Abstract

On 29 April 1961, Leonid Rogozov was writhing in pain due to what he had diagnosed as a suppurative appendix. Rogozov was certain about the diagnosis because he was a physician who also happened to be a crewmember on the sixth Soviet Antarctic Expedition at Novolazarevskaya Station.
