Abstract

Risk management in medicine has become a major concern. In France, every year more than 6 million of general anesthesia are performed. Thanks to medical advances and improved care, the risk of death from anesthesia is now very low, about one per million in a patient previously in good health. If anesthesia accidents are rare, they are unacceptable to the public and media attention is often important.
