Abstract

Physicians treating acute pulmonary embolism take decisions based on current guidelines and recommendations; however in specific conditions as in-transit thrombus and pregnant women, specific guidance from recent guidelines may be absent; furthermore if activated factors oral anticoagulants could be used as adjunctive treatment in PE patients submitted to thrombolysis is an open question. In this chapter a review of the evidence in these specific clinical conditions was performed.
