Abstract
I was extremely lucky when I came to know Enric Trillas well over thirty years ago. At that time I was still teaching philosophy at a Secondary School (St. Feliu de Guíxols) and had finished the translation into Catalan of the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus by Ludwig Wittgenstein. This philosopher has become my favourite author since my student years. I wrote my PhD thesis on his work and he is probably the deepest influence I have received in my way of thinking and arguing. At that time I was back from Münster (Germany) and Cambridge (GB) after a long period of research which had finished with my doctoral thesis. On his part, Enric, who was full Professor of Mathematics at the Universitat Politécnica de Barcelona, had organized the First Catalan Congress on Mathematical Logic. I was invited. I guess that the invitation came through the mediating intervention of Ton Sales who was our mutual friend and at that time Enric’s doctoral student. Some months before receiving the invitation I had met Ton in Austria, where we both took part into a Conference devoted to the work of Ludwig Wittgenstein.
