Abstract

Fuzzy logic has already a long history. Research is not only a matter of new ideas and breakthrough contributions. It is also a matter of companionship, of cooperation, of friendship between the researchers of a given community sharing the same concerns. Such a spirit has been especially at work among fuzzy set people.

Enric Trillas, for about thirty five years, has been always driven by such a motivation when acting for the development of basics of fuzzy logic, when trying to attract recognition for fuzzy set theory, and in his attempt to build a research community in soft computing. We had the chance to take part to this adventure, to meet Enric early, and we still remember how friendly was his welcome. In the following, we briefly evoke some moments where our research paths met.
