Abstract
Most GIS scripting projects are motivated by the desire to automate repetitive tasks. The Python programming language has a number of special functions and structures designed to facilitate various common demands in repetitive workflows. In this chapter, we’ll highlight some additional useful techniques for GIS scripting, related to Python FOR-loops, including list comprehension, the built-in enumerate and zip functions, and the os.walk function.
