Trauma Team Dynamics

Abstract

Trauma remains the leading cause of death during the first four decades of life in the developed world. The burden of illness due to injury is increasing globally. Important strides in reducing death and morbidity have accompanied the development of organized trauma care. Trauma teams which work in synergy are essential for modern trauma centers and systems. Application of standard trauma care practices taught in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLSĀ®) provides the common language supporting trauma teams. Application of trauma team dynamics and leadership principles will ensure that the injured receive the greatest chance of survival.
