Abstract

Specifics of furnace scrap facilitating and hindering intensive heating of it up to high temperatures. A shaft furnace as a steel melting aggregate largely satisfying requirements of high-temperature scrap preheating and continuous melting it in liquid metal as well. Inefficiency of a flow of off-gases leaving a furnace to provide such heating because of insufficient heat power of this flow. Inapplicability of well-known oxy-gas burners for this purpose. The system of high-temperature scrap preheating in a furnace shaft with high-power oxy-gas burner devices of recirculation-type is considered. Designed parameters of the system are given. This system has been developed by the authors. It is characterized by a low temperature of flames. Off-gas energy is used in the system for decomposition of dioxins contained in combustion products leaving the shaft and also can be used for other purposes not attached to the scrap melting process, for example, for production of steam with technological and energy parameters.
