Abstract
This is a story of rekindling the fire of vitality from apparent ash and embers. Richard’s recovery is based on mindful, healing relationships and personal mindfulness practice on his part as well as that of the physician/therapist. The odyssey from dark to light takes place during 1 year in Nova Scotia, Canada, as Richard grapples with depression, obesity, and compulsive overeating. It is a tale of reconnection, resilience, and the re-emergence of intrinsic sanity.
