Abstract
For a diagnostic ultrasonography (US) study of the neonatal spine, a modern, technologically advanced, US unit is essential. The study should be optimized to include morphological/anatomical gray-scale images of the spinal canal and its contents over the midline through the osseous gap between the not yet fused posterior spinous processes.
