Abstract

In the context of rapid urbanization, China’s urbanization process has continued for more than 30 years. This mode of extensive development has resulted in prominent environmental issues, urban areas becoming disaster-prone, and the poor ability of cities to repair themselves. In recent years, most large cities in China have suffered floods, mudslides, landslides, and other natural disasters, particularly the heavy rain that Beijing faced in 2012. In transition, to address these issues, scholars have studied the reasonable model of urban development from the perspective of the green city, eco-city, and low-carbon city. I believe that the style of urban spatial structure is reasonable and will directly affect the city’s ability to respond to disasters, as well as maintaining sustainable development. Therefore, the history of the level of urbanization has entered a “50” in China, starting from the structure of urban space and exploring the value of the sustainable resilient planning model of the urban spatial structure. This article proposes that a resilient urban spatial structure mode should have four basic attributes of ecology, growth, economy, and coordination. Next, it proposes a “multi-center, organizing network” within the overall urban spatial structure planning mode. Lastly, it combines cases from four levels that involve the public centers structure, the functional land use structure, the traffic structure, and the eco-spatial structure in order to further analyze the elastic spatial structure planning mode.
