Abstract
Put simply, combinatorics is the mathematics of counting. It may seem odd to devote an entire book to counting, especially since we all learned to count as children. More precisely, combinatorics is the mathematics of combinations. This being the case, combinatorics has numerous applications to experimental design, probability theory, game theory, and computer science.
