Abstract
As we have mentioned in Chapter 1, some heuristic methods for processing uncertainty lack justification and are, therefore, less reliable. Usually, techniques for processing interval and probabilistic uncertainty are well-justified, but many techniques for processing expert (fuzzy) data still lack such a justification. In this chapter, we show how a practically efficient heuristic fuzzy technique for decision making under uncertainty can be formally justified.
