Abstract

Many techniques that exploit the properties of electromagnetic radiation, visible and invisible, have been developed over the centuries. Through light is not only possible to measure the flow of time but also to perform various activities unimaginable in the past, such as many diagnoses and surgeries. Special attention is paid to the cutting-edge research, such as that associated with synchrotron radiation or photonics.

“Creativity is above all the ability to continuously ask questions.”

Piero Angela, writer and science journalist
