Abstract
A thorough discussion of remote sensing and GIS terminology is beyond the scope of this paper, and the reader is directed to Lillesand et al. (2008) and Campbell and Wynne (2011) for more in-depth treatment of these subjects. However, several concepts and definitions within this realm are critical to understanding the influence of remotely sensed image selection on (1) landscape component identification and (2) resulting GIS-based analyses, interpretations, and predictive capabilities of those analyses.
