Abstract

Chapter 2 provides comprehensive introduction of ethnobotany and ethnomedicines. The first part of this chapter includes information related to historical prospective of ethnobotany, aims of ethnobotanical investigation, its significance and future potential. Besides this ethnobotanical potential of wild edible food resources, particularly the wild edible vegetables and their socio-economic consequence are also discussed. The second part of this chapter deals with detail history of ethnomedicines and ethnomedicinal values of wild edible food resources with particular reference to Himalayan region of Pakistan.
