Abstract
Pharmaceutical companies have leveraged traditional portfolio management approaches for over 20 years. This has brought benefits in prioritization of projects and resources and the development of portfolio strategies and goals. However, the nature of drug development creates challenges to a pure implementation of these portfolio management approaches. This paper highlights these challenges and offers approaches to overcome the challenges.
